Hosta

Hosta

Since our first year of business in 1995, we have been offering nearly 200 varieties of hosta each season.  This season is no different.

With over 300 hosta selections displayed among the perennial gardens, you are sure to find a few you either don't have, or just need to take home.  We stock almost all hosta displayed in the gardens.

Each year, a few dozen more selections are added to our inventory list.  This year, we have added over thirty-five new hosta introductions.  Many of these are new to us and to the hosta market.

Hosta of the Year, 'First Frost'

Hosta of the Year, 'First Frost'

* A sport of 'Halcyon' with the same intense blue-green leaf center

* Emerges with a gold margin early in the spring, then changes to pure white later in the season

* The leaves hold up well in the garden all season long until the "first frost"

* Light lavender flowers appear on 28 inch scapes in midsummer

This fantastic sport of 'Halcyon' was developed by Patricia Scolnik of Chapel Hill, NC. The beautiful blue leaves are edged by a creamy-yellow margin that brightens to creamy-white by midsummer. Lavender flowers top the clump in late summer. This durable hosta received its name because it looks great until autumn's "first frost."
