Lotus
Lotus have beautiful fragrant blossoms that stand well above the surface of the water as do most of the leaves of mature lotus. Established plants must have at least 2 - 4 inches of water above the soil. They will not do well in agitated water. Fertilize twice monthly during the growing season with fertilizer tablet in soil beside the plant. These plants require at least one full year to become established and usually will not bloom until their second year. When re-potting use regular garden soil, not potting mix. Winter-hardy where pond soil does not freeze solid. Zones 4 - 11
Beautiful, aquatic perennials commonly known as Lotus. Flowers are open for three days and some change colors in that time. The height, foliage and blossom size differs between the varieties. They produce large, bluish-gray, peltate leaves, which stand above the water when full-grown; they range in width from 12 to 30 inches. These plants are great for planting in containers.
