Valued for its late summer display, 'Turn of the Century' produces unusual, bi-colored flowers ranging from dark red to light pink. Petals alternate colors, giving them the appearance of a 5-veined pinwheel. Strong, shrub-like foliage, which is more compact than standard hibiscus, supports these beautiful blooms in mid to late summer. Makes an outstanding accent plant.

Growing & Maintenance Tips:

Hibiscus love the sun and need moist, well-drained soil. Keeping these plants watered will result in larger flowers and lush foliage. Deadheading may prolong the bloom period. It is best to plant Hibiscus in the garden before the heat of the summer arrives, and should be heavily mulched the first winter. In spring, cut back any remaining stems before new growth appears. Be advised that this species is always one of the last to emerge in spring. Its vigorous growth rate more than makes up for this late start, however. Japanese beetles find these plants especially delicious.
