This reached a bidding price of $1000 at auctions. Dorothy Benedict was made famous because of a special hosta named for her and hybridized by her husband, Dr. Herb Benedict. The margins are smooth. The flowers are nearly white with purple markings. It often has variegated leafy bracts. It is fertile. It grows slowly and is still a very desirable breeder.
