Hosta 'Sagae'

Plant Type: Hostas

'Sagae' is a large, vase-shaped hosta cultivar. It features a 22-28" tall mound of large, variegated, oval, wavy-edged, basal leaves that are frosty blue-green with creamy white margins. Foliage mound will typically spread over time to 36" wide or more. Racemes of bell-shaped, white flowers tinged with lavender appear in summer on scapes rising above the foliage mound to 34" tall. Formerly known as and synonymous with H. Fluctuans 'Variegated'. Easily grown in average, medium, well-drained soils in part shade to full shade. Tolerant of a wide range of soil conditions. Does best in rich, moist, organic soils in light, sun-dappled shade. Divide plants as needed in spring or autumn (perhaps easiest in early spring before the leaves unfurl).
