Improved variety of Ninebark with neat, compact branching and fine, deeply cut, dark crimson-red leaves. ‘Summer Wine’ combines the fine texture of Physocarpus ‘Nana’ with the dark foliage of ‘Diabolo’. Requires little pruning. Pinkish-white flowers in mid-summer show nicely against the dark foliage. A hardy, compact, neat plant with deeply serrated, dark crimson red foliage. Pinkish-white, button-shaped flowers. Bark will peel as stems mature. A showy plant that makes a great accent in the landscape.
